While traveling for research on environmental adaptation in MENA, by far my most illuminating days have been those far from cities. A few thoughts on the benefits of getting out into the countryside, and how to make the most of it.

I think it's likely to grow in the sense of continued neglect of rural areas. At the same time there's more and more urban sprawl into rural areas around many key cities, which is a different sort of problem--and an upcoming newsletter topic!
